"So up he jumped to try again
Ten yards behind the last
If I'm going to gain those yards, he though
I've got to move real fast"
--- D. H. Groberg

There's a race going on right now - But I do not run alone, and I do not run only for myself. I run best when I run for someone else, and I believe you are like that too: You point the lantern, but the lantern does not point at you. So let us run, and I'll carry you sometimes, and you'll carry me sometimes, and we'll show them. We'll show them how great we are together.
To the Ocean

Sea, my old and bottomless mirror, I call unto you to tell you this: That you are indeed my ever-hungry keeper, and your creatures have guarded me faithful and diligently for decades. And I would be ungrateful to deny you this - that yet today I live and breathe because of you.

I loved the immeasurable vastness in which you held the demons, drowning them lest they reached me with the rise of every moon. I loved the placid mystery of your harmless-looking visage: though one might sail and cast a long gaze at the pulse of your liquid skin, it reveals aught but that of the essence. You are indeed alive, and unfathomable. However, you have now gone and overreached in your purpose. If I let you, you’ll spill onto the land and take all you can. When you do, you’ll have unwittingly killed me. Therefore I shall strive to reduce you, and I shall fashion you as a shallow pond, and the exposed ocean bed will be hills and valleys and the islands will be mountains. Everything will be as it should be, under the shining sun.
